Testimonials -- ROM SuccessesIn the fast paced world that we live in, the biggest limitation for many of us is time. I joined FastWay Fitness in January 2008 primarily because it allows me to exercise on the days when I cannot fit a workout into my day.... it is hard to find an excuse when your work out takes you 8 minutes.
I began with the usual skepticism that one would have when you think ... how can one really benefit from an 8 minute workout? What I discovered; however, was that by the second month I was feeling stronger. Specifically, I am able lift heavy cases of water without it bothering my back and without feeling the strain in my arms. I can do push ups with greater ease and overall my body is feeling more toned.
I think FastWay Fitness offers the answer to those of us with busy lives !!
The big problem with writing or talking about the ROM machine is that you're afraid you'll sound like some kind of cultist. The effectiveness and efficiency of the ROM machine is so great that to speak accurately about it is to speak extravagantly. Despite what we all know about things that sound too good to be true, this device really is mind-blowingly effective. No wonder they charge and GET over $14,000 a copy!
I started working with the ROM machine around April 16th, 2007. Pat Foy, who was then my trainer (one session with him costs about as much as a month's membership at Fastway Fitness) ran a battery of upper body strength and fitness tests on me. Then I did nothing but the ROM machine for 4 weeks. That's 24 minutes of actual exercise per week for a total of 96 minutes. We repeated the strength tests and logged an 8% improvement in my total score.
We were both astonished. Wanting to see if this would go on, we decided to repeat the experiment. Another 96 minutes of exercise later, on June 16th. I logged another 8% improvement!
Since then, with maybe two weeks off, I have limited my exercise almost entirely to 8 minute sessions, three times a week, on the ROM Machine. Occasionally I take walks. Sometimes I work with a grip strengthener and, rarely, when I have energy to burn, I'll do some lower arm and wrist exercises. Other than that, it's all ROM. There is no question that my strength, flexibility, balance, and endurance have all increased.
Last week a friend at church complimented me on my decreased, ah, girth. That right there is reason enough for me!
But what actually happened was that as I used the ROM machine regularly, my appetite increased, and so did my weight. My waist size also went up about an inch. I was a little distressed about this so I talked it over with some physical fitness experts. The line we came up with was, "First we build the fat burner, then IT burns the fat."
In other words, when you take up the practice of short-duration, high-intensity cardiovascular and strength-building exercise, you build muscle (and appetite!). So you get bigger and weigh more. But with a little attention to WHAT you eat and WHEN you eat (high protein, small snacks, often) the actual size increase is not that great — though my upper arm circumference is noticeably bigger than it was in, say, March.
Then, since muscle burns calories, while fat stores them, your muscle mass begins to effect your metabolism in a VERY rewarding way! I have found that my appetite has leveled off, and I am less attracted to junk. And my HIGHLY subjective impression is that what I eat tends more to building muscle and fueling exertion than to accumulating around my middle.
It may be that on the cosmic scale, "The last enemy to be destroyed is death," but in the realm of exercise, for men, in general, with exceptions, the last fat to be destroyed is tummy and waist fat, while for women, again, in general with exceptions, the behind and the thigh fat may be the hardest to conquer.
And it's true, you may have some problems with clothes if you exercise with the ROM machine: My pectoral, shoulder, and upper back muscles have developed to the point that I no longer fit in one of my favorite shirts. I regret the shirt, but this is a problem I can live with.
But now that I've exercised with the ROM machine regularly for 6 months, I can assure you that it works, and works dramatically and rewardingly.
